Show Off! Community Talent Contest Rules

SHOW OFF! Rules

  1. Payment options include: 1) online at www.tctv.net; 2) by phone, call 956-3100; 3) in person at the TCTV facility, 440 Yauger Way SW, Suite C, Olympia WA.
  2. Acts may be vocal or instrumental solos or ensembles, dance solos or ensembles, or variety acts (i.e. magic, juggling, comedy, etc). Due to time restrictions and technical limitations, we are not able to accommodate groups that require complex equipment set-up.
  3. All acts must be non-professional. Performing and/or performing arts instruction must not be the primary source of income for any contestant or group member.
  4. Participants must be 7 years of age or older.
  5. Acts may include one to ten participants.
  6. Acts must be suitable for all ages.
  7. No animals or dangerous stunts (i.e. no fire, sharp objects…).
  8. Each act must identify a leader who will be the main contact for the act. This person is responsible for coordinating with and responding to the SHOW OFF! Organizing Committee.
  9. The SHOW OFF! Organizing Committee reserves the right and has the final authority to decline applications deemed inappropriate.
  10. The entry fee is non-refundable.

Preliminary Judging – September 25, 2010 at the Olympia Ballroom

  • TCTV will accept a maximum of 40 acts for the preliminary judging and will assign performance times for the day. Any time slots not filled by October 16 will be available for walk-in registration on September 25th on a first-come-first served basis. Walk-in acts must pay the $35 entry fee and meet all other requirements listed here.
  • For the preliminary judging on September 25th, each act has a maximum of 10 minutes to set up, perform and remove all of their props and equipment from the stage. Your actual performance can be no longer than 3 minutes 30 seconds.
  • SHOW OFF! will provide 2 microphones, a sound system for pre-recorded music and a piano, if needed, for the preliminary judging day. No other equipment will be provided.
  • All pre-recorded music must be on a CD. Pre-recorded music for vocalists may include background vocals but must not have lead vocals.
  • For the preliminary judging on September 25th, all contestants must arrive no later than their assigned check-in time and must be ready to perform at their designated performance time. Contestants arriving late may be disqualified.

Final Competition – November 6, 2010 at the Washington Center

  • Twelve finalists will be selected to move on to the final event on November 14.
  • Finalists will be contacted and preliminary results will be posted at www.tctv.net by 1:00PM on October 26, 2009.
  • If your act is selected as a finalist, you must be available from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM on November 6, 2010 for rehearsals and production of the LIVE television program at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. No exceptions.
  • The production schedule will be distributed to all finalists at a Finalist information meeting to be scheduled after the Preliminary Judging.
